Roadmap

Keychain is constantly evolving to meet the needs of our customers and remain at the forefront of digital security solutions. The following is a brief roadmap of future planned features on the horizon.

With the exception of Backlog items, these are intended to be implemented in the GA phase of Keychain Core v3.

Q3 2025

Features

  • Ledger refactor: Seamless verifiable credentials and claims support including tagging and message variables

  • DID and URI refactor: Replacing URI with DID for broader use case support and generalizability

  • Database encryption: Allowing the Keychain database file to be encrypted by a passphrase

  • Composable API: Native support for composing cryptographic actions to satisfy arbitrary privacy needs

Tech Updates

  • Kotlin support: Adding a Keychain Core wrapper written in the Kotlin language

  • Golang support: Adding a Keychain Core wrapper written in the Go language

  • License refactor: Multiple improvements aimed at making the licensing system easier to use

  • Logging refactor: Configure the Keychain Core library logging

  • Release Toolchain: Simplified release process for Keychain Core

Q4 2025

Features

  • Keychain Tools: A standalone daemon and CLI to allow for non-programmatic interaction with Keychain Core

  • Keychain Server: Communicating with the Keychain Tools daemon, a web server template clients can use in their own web apps

Tech Updates

  • Database migration automation: Schema and data migration automation when upgrading versions of Keychain

H1 2026

Features

  • Client Portal: Web site for clients to access Keychain downloads, accelerators, information, and raise tickets

Backlog

  • Block explorer

  • Multi-chain support - support of alternative blockchains at the PKI layer within Keychain

  • Blockchain server release

  • HSM integration

  • Multisig support
